More and more people want to do something different for their wedding, so why not for your hen party, as well! How about creating something with your hens that can actually be used at your wedding?

The Crafty Hen can offer just this, a fun craft workshop with all your nearest and dearest, with time to make and create. We offer a variety of creating sessions from bunting to vintage table decorations – you can even make your own textile bridal bouquet, jewellery, tiaras or hair pins!

Our ladies provide expert tuition, all the materials and equipment needed and they even tailor their sessions to you and your wedding, with colour choices and themes. There are also vintage options for many of our workshops which use vintage and antique lace, fabrics and buttons.

So, if you fancy getting crafty with your hens, why not make your own bunting? There is still a strong trend of this being used at weddings. Each string of bunting made will be unique and personal to you. The session leader will show you a number of techniques you can use to decorate your bunting, including appliqué and decorative techniques; we also provide lots of wonderful ribbons, lace, bows and buttons which you can use to decorate your pennants. You can then all work together to assemble it ready for the big day.

If you love vintage, how about making your own tea cup table decorations? Every hen gets a vintage tea cup to fill with handmade textile flowers. You can even co-ordinate the vintage fabric and button choices with your wedding colours, or make your favourite flowers. On the workshop day, you’ll be inspired with lots of beautiful vintage fabrics and buttons and have different flower templates to work from. Everyone will work on their own tea cup, but also get the opportunity to make a matching brooch, or hair accessory to keep and wear on the day. The decorations will be a stunning feature on any wedding table and be a fantastic memento to keep.

If you fancy an alternative bouquet, how about making your own fabric one with all your hens contributing? Work together to make various textile flowers for your bouquet. You can even make your bridesmaids’ flowers or corsages or buttonholes for the gents. Everyone will also get to make some matching accessories to wear on the day. The whole group will have a fantastic keepsake from the hen party and the bride-to-be gets a special item to treasure forever.
