Wedding Ideas magazine features Mrs Robertson

I’ll always leap at an opportunity to talk about weddings, especially when I’m asked about my own big day!

So, when a journalist got in touch to discuss wedding traditions with me for a feature she was writing for Wedding Ideas magazine, I was obviously up for the chat.

Guest outfits: Is black now acceptable at weddings?

So, we are two out of three weddings down for this year. Two out of three new outfits worn and enjoyed. But, it seems things have changed in the world of weddings…and that black is now an acceptable colour for a guest to wear! Who knew!

The rule has always been, you simply don’t wear black (too dull and serious) or white (that’s reserved for the bride) when a guest at a wedding. You’ve obviously always had the occasional rule breaker, but weddings have always been full of guests in brightly coloured outfits.

Buying your dresses online can be a huge risk. Many a bride has been burnt by ordering what they believe to be the dream wedding dress or bridesmaid dress, only to be sent something which is nothing more than a piece of rag.

But, if you do your research and use reputable online shops, there are some real bargains to be had. I bought my bridesmaid dresses online and was amazed by the sheer quality and workmanship, despite the low price tag.

Advice: Picking the right wine for your wedding breakfast

We’re not huge drinkers, so knowing which drinks match which foods is something we have no idea about. There was nothing classy about the drinks we chose for our wedding breakfast, simply taking pot luck and picking a range of white, rose and red in the hope we would cater for everyone!

But, if you want to be a little more sophisticated when it comes to supplying the right wine for your meal, take a look at this infographic.
