I’ll always leap at an opportunity to talk about weddings, especially when I’m asked about my own big day!
So, when a journalist got in touch to discuss wedding traditions with me for a feature she was writing for Wedding Ideas magazine, I was obviously up for the chat.
As much as I’m a hopeless romantic and love many wedding traditions, my husband and I weren’t afraid to ditch the ones which didn’t mean as much to us.

So, we are two out of three weddings down for this year. Two out of three new outfits worn and enjoyed. But, it seems things have changed in the world of weddings…and that black is now an acceptable colour for a guest to wear! Who knew!

It doesn’t matter how many years you’ve spent dreaming about your big day. It doesn’t matter if you think you know what your dress will look like, what your first dance will be to and what your new husband will say in his speech. When that ring is on your finger and the planning begins, there are lots of questions you simply do not know the answer to.
One being, when on earth do we send out the invitations?
We’re not huge drinkers, so knowing which drinks match which foods is something we have no idea about. There was nothing classy about the drinks we chose for our wedding breakfast, simply taking pot luck and picking a range of white, rose and red in the hope we would cater for everyone!
