Wedding diary: Vow renewal for Charlie from Truly I Do
In just a few short weeks, my good friend Charlie Smith from Truly I Do (http://trulyido.weebly.com) will stand with husband Dan before their friends and family and renew their wedding vows…but this time, their three children will be a huge part of proceedings.
Catching up with Mrs Smith to see how the planning is coming together for September 19…
So we’re down to the less than a month countdown and I’m at the point of waking at stupid o’clock to think about table plans while watching Don’t Tell The Bride on catch-up. There seems to be some kind of “emotional mess” switch that’s been turned on in my brain and I’m second questioning everything. What if the DJ plays the wrong first dance. What if the fork buffet isn’t enough for everyone. What if I cry and end up with emotional panda eyes part-way through the ceremony. I don’t recall feeling like this first time around, but talking to other 2Bs it’s all fairly normal.
But emotional wreckness to one side, I think we’re pretty ready. We made the decision early on that the three children would perform the ceremony and, thanks to some inspiration from Dr Seuss, we’ve written our vows. We’ve chosen our first dance, and actually a second dance too, and everyone’s outfits head to toe are finally ready. My dress, my original Monsoon (www.monsoon.co.uk) wedding dress, now features an illusion neckline, vintage lace cap sleeves, a lace peplum and satin waistband. I’ve probably tried it on 50-plus times; I’m ridiculously excited to wear it
We’ve chosen to include some special personalised touches for the renewal, from “get to know your neighbour” table mats, to monogram hankies for the boys and monogram hearts for my mum and Macy Mai. As the renewal is really just a big party, we’ve included lots to get all the guests interacting; I Spy wedding tent cards, DJ request sheet and photo booth props will be on each table. Hopefully, we’ll end up with a bunch of fantastic photos.
So what’s left to do? Really just the brain-taxing table plan and 80 favour bags and of course I need to decide on a garter! I’m sure Kelly will let me write a final guest blog after our big day when I’ll share photos of everything. Mr and Mrs Robertson are our guests, so I’m sure Kelly will have lots of photos herself, too.
